We have finished the SRG21 (The Shark) and the SRG31 (The Relic). Here are some pictures of the guitars being built and of the finished products.
Here are some pictures of the SRG41 which we built for Josh Matheny. This is his signature series lap steel. We went with a bigger body design for more sustain and chose to add a second pick-up with a blend pot which will give the guitar a much deeper tone and versatility.

These are two recent editions that were built in the spring and summer of 2011. The SRG61 was built for Canadian musician Richard Henderson. It features a satin tung oil finish to give the body a natural look. The SRG57 features a surf green finish and beautiful Birdseye Maple fret board. Both lap steels include two pickups and a blend pot to maintain the deep tone and versatility of the SRG41.
We are happy to announce that work on our new shop was completed in October 2011. The shop is set up for a dust free operation and features a spray room and spacious work area.
November 2011: Two new editions are currently being worked on in our shop. The New England Edition features a carved moose on the body and a Birdseye Maple fretboard.
January 2012: Happy New Year to all of our customers and friends! 2011 was an incredible year for Scantic River Guitar Company. We had a great trip to the Summer NAMM trade show in July, finished our new workshop, and built several new custom lap steels. Currently we are making great progress on Josh Matheny's new signature edition lap steel. Here are some pictures of the top in progress. We added a Tobacco Sunburst finish and are really impressed with the way the Western Maple Fiddleback top stands out. Please check out our photo page for more pictures.
January 2012: We recently completed Josh Matheny's new signature edition lap steel. Below are some pictures of the finished product. Josh visited our shop in Maine and was there for the final assembly of his new lap steel. We had a great time visiting with Josh and we hope he enjoyed his trip up north! While Josh was in Maine we filmed a segment for the popular tv show Bill Green's Maine and look forward to seeing how it turned out. We thank Bill and his staff for taking the time to visit with us. We also filmed some new demo videos during Josh's visit. The demo video of the SRG57 is posted below and showcases the great tone and versatility of this top quality lap steel.
